RSNA collaborates with other major radiology societies in the Radiology Health Equity Coalition to make a positive impact on health care equity in the radiology arena and beyond. While disparities and inequities in health care have been evident for many years, the COVID-19 pandemic has magnified the disproportionate numbers of people of color in the U.S. affected by inadequate care.

RSNA’s partners in the Coalition are the American Board of Radiology, American College of Radiology, American Medical Association Section Council on Radiology, Association of University Radiologists, National Medical Association Section Council on Radiology and Radiation Oncology, Society of Chairs of Academic Radiology Departments and Society of Interventional Radiology. Specialty and state Radiology organizations are also joining the initiative.

Because medical imaging touches most patients at some point, radiologists are uniquely positioned to help eliminate inequities in health care. The Coalition brings together the radiology community to address health disparities and measurably change outcomes. This network of patient-focused radiology societies will collect and disseminate resources and best practices, advocate for and connect with patients and community members, and collaborate on programs and services to empower their colleagues to improve health care equity.
