MIDRC funding program

RSNA is inviting proposals for funding support to help researchers gather and submit data to the Medical Imaging and Data Resource Center (MIDRC), a national database of COVID-related images and clinical data funded by the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB).

MIDRC funding will be awarded to sites with substantial COVID-related imaging and clinical data that commit to contributing their data to MIDRC. Preference will be given to those with data representing diverse and vulnerable patient populations and other forms of data that are underrepresented in the MIDRC dataset.

Award recipients can receive up to $38,000 to support personnel and other costs for a one-year project.

About the funding program

The MIDRC funding program is available to sites and investigators willing to contribute COVID-related imaging data to MIDRC. The awards enable recipients to select, process and submit such data for use by the MIDRC research community.

Sites and investigators selected for funding must demonstrate access to substantial COVID-related imaging and clinical data. Funds can be applied to any institutional process or individual who can facilitate the data transfer.

The funds are awarded in four payments over the project duration: 25% after project kickoff, 25% after Institutional Review Board (IRB) and privacy approval and 50% after data delivery.

Eligibility, deadline and application process

The program is open to all levels of U.S.-based investigators. Applications will be accepted until all available funding has been awarded.

The first round of MIDRC funding is now closed.

What's required to apply?

Applicants must provide a clear description of how the funding will enable the investigator and their team to submit data using established processes and tools. To find additional details on how applications will be evaluated, please see the evaluation criteria provided in the MIDRC site funding application linked below.

All applicants must provide the following materials to complete the application process:

  1. MIDRC site funding application (including signature of applicant and authorized institutional representative)
  2. Signed data submission agreement
  3. Curriculum vitae (CV)

Please submit all materials to informatics@rsna.org.
